Fair Warning, Music Fans
Ok, there are some GREAT shows coming up in Dekalb and beyond. First, and most obviously, Big Drag will be opening for a band that looks like they're about to blow up (a la No Doubt) - The Dollyrots, this Thursday in the Otto's Underground. Come to see us, stay so you can say you "saw them when..."
Friday, August 24th brings our friends Grenadier along with two bands I've been dying to see: The Life and Times and Seaworthy. The former is fronted by former singer/guitarist for Shiner (one of my all-time favorite bands) and the latter is influenced by Shiner, apparently.
Sunday, October 7th at Otto's is U.S.S.A. - fronted by Duane Dennison of the Jesus Lizard and some dude from Ministry. Sunday, October 28th is Captured by Robots! at Otto's. If you haven't heard of Captured, it's worth the research - and likely worth the cover charge, too.
The High Noon Saloon is the newer version of O'Cayz Corral in Madison, WI. The old place burned and the new place (same owner) is like a brand new, clean Otto's. They're hosting Qui (new David Yow band) on September 26th, Peelander-Z on the 30th, and on Saturday, October 20th, they have High on Fire (who I missed at Otto's) along with Mono (from Japan - f'n excellent band) and two others. Oh, and Sunday, October 28 brings Del Tha Funkee Homosapien. If you know who he is, you'll want to see this show.
