Vivoleum is Soylent Green!!
This is a fantastic ruse perpetrated by a group called "The Yes Men" in which they got access to a petroleum industry event as members of Exxon (via an elaborate lie) and presented a new alternative fuel called "Vivoleum". They handed out candles made of the substance and, after getting nearly everyone to light them, explained that the primary source of materials for the candles they were holding was a maintenance worker from Exxon that had died and left his body for this research. That's right, as far as they knew, they were burning a dead dude at the dinner table.
Shortly thereafter, security was alerted and the two pranksters were escorted out, but not until AFTER THEY PLAYED A TRIBUTE VIDEO TO THE EXPIRED WORKER! Holy shit!! This is an impressive prank. Here are pictures of the day as it transpired - the tribute video for their expired compatriate is near the bottom of the page.
Thanks to NPR's "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" for this hot tip.
