Non-resolutions Update

Well, I didn't want to make New Year's resolutions this year. I did have a plan to be thinner and better informed, though. So far, I'm down 11 lbs. since I started working out and I got over the hump in installing Linux on an extra PC I got from my old job. I still have a long way to go to get down to 190 lbs. (ideal weight) and converting our home entertainment system into a 100% free and open-source setup.

I'm also thinking about taking some web architecture and/or networking courses which will definitely help me to bring more to the table at work and justify a promotion. They might pay for it, too. The side benefit is that I could get better at building web pages and maybe do a little of that on the side. We'll see.

Next plateau for me is 210 lbs (9 to go!) and getting the Linux machine to work on our current television. Gotta see the new Rob and Big episodes!

I'm shooting for 190 too. How f'd up is that?

Why Do I Do This?

I was originally inspired by the Web log posted on the site for Propellerhead Software. They developed a cool 808 emulator which eventually morphed into an entire digital audio workstation package (Reason). Those early posts documented their development process and gave a human insight into their struggles. It was cool. So, I bought some hosted space and figured out FrontPage to put a rudimentary site together. My goal was to connect my family, but then realized this could be a great way for me to keep track of happenings over time. Eventually, the manual, HTML journal gave way to this Blogger setup - much easier to deal with, and not bound to one computer.

Ultimately, this is more about nothing than an episode of Seinfeld, but I appreciate that you've read this far. Really.
