More Whining From Me
Not winning - whining. I know that I set myself up for stuff. More likely, I avoid setting myself up and suffer the consequences when due dates arrive. I'm in the middle of that right now. I do it chronically, and every time I'm under the gun like this, I remember a bunch of previous episodes just like it where I thought, "I should have started earlier on this."
Truth is, it takes some pressure for me to really get engaged in projects, but if there's too much pressure, I'll bail and look for any escape route. (Typing up a blog post, for example.)
My current deadline is Monday. I have two big documents and three smaller ones to finish editing, collect signatures on the final drafts, then do all of our conversion/upload magic to make them available to customers.
On top of that, one band is playing in Dekalb on Saturday, and we're getting a third dog tomorrow (Friday) for a two-week stint while its owners are on vacation. If you have dogs, you know that when a new one enters the system, there's chaos for about a day while they sort out the pecking order. Good times.
So, in between logging in from home, I'll probably be sopping up piss at some point. However, the point has been made more than once - I'm lucky to have a job right now. That was never my career aspiration, so I'm looking into taking some classes to either enhance my current job or create a new one.
When the tension breaks here, I'll be getting back on the treadmill (or bike trainer), getting into some classes, and eating better. It's not really a resolution - more of a game plan.
