High Expectations

If you haven't heard, Santa's Village is inches from its demise. To paraphrase a Sun Times article, there was a lease that would have expired in 2008 but some investors offered to buy it this past year. They never quite closed on the property and now a different development group is suing to get the property. There's an auction set to sell off the rides. I think we could fit a Tilt-a-Whirl in our backyard...

Anyhow, it turns out that one of the original "investors" has other issues:

Francis faces a legal problem. He is charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, a Class X felony, in Kane County. Francis is accused of possessing 5,000 grams of cannabis. He is expected to plead guilty to a lesser charge next month.

"There were a lot of high expectations. All those expectations are gone," Wenz said. "The window of opportunity closed and there was nothing left. My gut feeling is the financing was never in place."

Good pun, good deductive reasoning. It's a wonder the place is going out of business.

Why Do I Do This?

I was originally inspired by the Web log posted on the site for Propellerhead Software. They developed a cool 808 emulator which eventually morphed into an entire digital audio workstation package (Reason). Those early posts documented their development process and gave a human insight into their struggles. It was cool. So, I bought some hosted space and figured out FrontPage to put a rudimentary site together. My goal was to connect my family, but then realized this could be a great way for me to keep track of happenings over time. Eventually, the manual, HTML journal gave way to this Blogger setup - much easier to deal with, and not bound to one computer.

Ultimately, this is more about nothing than an episode of Seinfeld, but I appreciate that you've read this far. Really.
